Allied Esports will build a dedicated esports venue located inside the Mall of Georgia in Buford, Georgia, as part of its previously announced partnership with the Simon Property Group, according to an announcement made early Friday
The facility will be a two-level, 13,000-square-foot facility located at The Village, which will facilitate regularly scheduled amateur and professional esports tournaments and events across a variety of game titles and genres. The venue will also have a wide variety of streaming and production options as well as having gaming PCs and consoles available for the daily use of customers.
The redevelopment and transition of the current retail space is expected to start in Q2 of 2020, with the opening of the venue anticipated in H2 of the year.
"We've long felt that the gaming and esports communities in the Southeast, especially the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, are vibrant and growing and believe we have a location at Mall of Georgia that will serve as a dynamic hub for esports experiences in the region," said Jud Hannigan, CEO of Allied Esports. "We're excited to launch this first-of-its-kind on-mall venue and continue to develop and expand on this new concept for additional Simon destinations."
